The California Philharmonic believes our community is the right place to start creating both the music lovers and orchestras of tomorrow. Cal Phil offers several educational and outreach programs for youth, families, and the general community. Through talks offered at all of our many venues, Maestro Victor Vener explains the cultural context of the pieces being performed along with anecdotes about the lives of the composers. These talks allow listeners to find their own contemporary relevance for the classical music they enjoy, enriching both their lives and their concert experience.
Another aspect of community outreach is service. Each year the California Philharmonic utilizes the talents of 300 to 400 youth volunteers. High school students throughout the San Gabriel Valley fulfill service hours required for graduation through volunteering with Cal Phil. Additionally, the orchestra relies upon the services of approximately 150 adult volunteers at concerts and in its offices. We are grateful for the commitment to fine music that your volunteering demonstrates and we are proud to offer these opportunities which allow you to actively show your dedication to improving the quality of life in your community.
Whether it be formal educational concerts, internships, volunteering, or the Maestro’s educational style, the California Philharmonic actively gives back to the community in order to make life better for all of us.
